Corinne Hockley

Corinne is a mixed-media textile artist and graduate of Central St Martins.  She is also part of the Studio Seven textile collective.

Based in the textile studio at Stroud Valleys Artspace, she creates intricately stitched and embellished narrative pieces, exploring themes of freedom and constraint, ritual and romance. Innovative and imaginative, the pieces weave a path through constructed textiles and symbolism – a red thread often runs through her work, in which you are likely to encounter paper corsets, dancing shoes, tattered wings and cages. She also uses a wide range of materials, including old paper patterns, vintage lace, fabric scraps, buttons and various found objects associated with textiles – measuring tapes, pins, scissors and thimbles..

More recently she has begun to combine this work with her background in theatre, to produce magical textile installations and costumes for performance – pushing the boundaries of textiles through exciting cross-arts collaborations.
